This homogenization also has serious social and cultural implications. Linguistic and intellectual diversity is a source of societal resilience—it enables adaptation to change and innovation in the face of new challenges. If AI reduces this diversity, we risk losing our collective ability to think outside the box or respond to crises in creative ways. Additionally, homogenization may reinforce inequalities, as voices from minority groups or marginalized perspectives may be further marginalized by AI output that reflects dominant norms. However, not all hope is lost. The researchers emphasize that AI itself is not the root of the problem—it is how we use it that determines its impact. With greater awareness, we can develop practices that promote diversity.
